For about as long as men have known how to measure things, they’ve been measuring their penises. Actually, for all we know, men have been trying to figure out how they measure up since the dawn of time. That’s not going to go away anytime soon, but now science has come through with an interesting new study to put those measurements in perspective. King’s College London has figured out what the average penis length is and, good news: It’s probably not as big as you think. As Men’s Health puts it:
When erect, the average penis swelled to 5.2 inches in length and 4.6 inches in circumference.
The study gets pretty in-depth, but if you’re wondering where you fit in, here are the relevant details. Men who fell into the 95th percentile were about 6.3 inches long, erect—meaning only about 5 out of every 100 men would measure longer. On the other hand, men in the fifth percentile measure about 4 inches.
In other words, about 90 percent of men measure somewhere between 4 inches and 6.3 inches.
